Going to college? Here’s what you should do and when – Part I

It’s probably no surprise to you that if you’re planning on going to college there are certain things you need to do. You need to figure out:

  • What you want to major in
  • What college/university will be best for you
  • How (and who) you’re going to pay for school (more on this later)

BUT … before you do that, there are other behind-the-scenes kinds of things you need to do.

We have created an admissions timeline for you to give you step-by-step suggestions on what you should be doing and when. If you’re really super organized, you can print it and check or cross out each item as you complete it. (Are you that organized?)

For example, if you’re a high school junior, you should be figuring out what you want to study in college and start planning college visits. PhotoforNov4Post

If you’re a junior or senior, this is a good time to attend an Open House and ask people you trust to write letters of recommendation you can use for your admissions application.

Keep in mind that planning for college is a process, but it doesn’t have to be a super-complicated one.

If you have any thoughts please share them with us.
