Here’s how you can survive the college admissions process

For many of us, fall is back-to-school season. And for many parents, it means that your son or daughter is starting to apply for admission to college.  Helping your son or daughter find the right school can be a bit daunting and a little scary. However, there are things you can do to make it a bit easier.

Take advantage of open houses. On our campus, we’re welcoming prospective students and their families later this month during an Open House on Oct. 20 and another on Nov. 3. Those events are a perfect time for you to talk to admissions and financial aid counselors. Tour the campus. Meet your son or daughter’s future professors. Talk with current student who will give you the straight scoop.

The Student Advisor Blog also features a  Parents’ Survival Guide to help you through the college admissions process. In it, you’ll find helpful information, including the 10 things you need to know before you son or daughter applies to college, the fastest-growing occupations, and 12 ways to reduce college costs. We’ll be sharing some of this with you in the coming weeks.

As always, if you’ve been through this process and have any advice to share please let us know.
